This “secret” garden is shared with the owner of the second floor of the main building which the Dolfin entrance porch is connected to, but you won't most likely meet him, you will possibly see the young daughters playing after school on the other end of the big garden.
Inside, the house is composed of a spacious and very bright living room with high ceilings and wooden beams: here you can find a double pull-out bed and a stunning metal stairway that leads to the attic room which can be used both as a second bedroom with a large futon bed or as a studio/office room. Please keep in mind that the stairway is quite steep and not suitable for small kids. From the living room you can access the main bathroom and the small but well-equipped kitchen. Here you can find dishwasher, oven, 4 burners stoves, kettle, fridge, and a foldable workbench used also as dining table. The main bedroom is also spacious, with a small en-suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe.
The equipment of the house includes air conditioning system, Wi-Fi internet connection, flat-screen TV with DVD player, washing machine. We recommend this house to couples or families with the only exclusion of small children as the stairway could be a danger. When placing a booking please specify if you prefer to use the sofa-bed in the living room or the futon bed in the attic.
In this area you can find lots of local artisan shops, food markets, specialty shops, supermarkets...even the restaurants and bars offer delicious food at reasonable prices! The Cannaregio canal is the second widest in Venice, and joins the Grand Canal on the south end to the northern lagoon. A lively, interesting area, served by the public transport Vaporetto line n.1 along the Grand Canal, or the so called "Gira Città" routes n. 41, 42, 51 and 52 along the northern end.
The Dolfin is located only 5 minutes’ walk to the Cà D'Oro Vaporetto stop (particularly recommended if you arrive by train or car) and to the Madonna dell'Orto Alilaguna stop (very convenient direct water transport if you land at the Marco Polo Airport), even if our personal suggestion is to spoil yourself taking a private water taxi that drops you off directly in front of the entrance door of the house!

Well placed apartment with lovely garden. Everything we needed provided, good WiFi connection, comfortable and clean all needs catered for. Great to sit in the quiet garden after a long day siteseeing. Lots of bars and restaurants close by. Definitely a good choice. Thank you Truly Venice

This is a very comfortable and quiet apartment in a less "touristy" part of the city. It is ideally situated for good restaurants, the Coop supermarket and other shops, and also the Vaporetto stops at Ca d'oro and Madonna dell'Orto. The Truly Venice agency was extremely helpful and informative, and the gentleman who met us could not have been more welcoming. In summary, we could not have experienced a better introduction to the outstandingly beautiful city of Venice.

Splendid place! We enjoyed this very much. The place was well equipped and comfortable. The kitchen is quite small, but big enough for breakfast. We used the living room quite a lot and this was a good solution since we were on holiday with friends and could relax together in a way that wouldn't have been do-able in a hotel. It's a slight shame that while one room is very spacious indeed, with lots of storage space, the attic room is much smaller and storage is a bit short. So one couple gets the better deal. The garden is amazing, complete with a folly-like structure, and a water-gate of its own. It was winter, and too cold to eat outside, but in spring and summer it must be absolutely lovely. The location was great for us: a few minutes from the vaporetto, as promised.

Glorious garden in Venice! It was a pleasure dealing with Truly Venice. The best feature of this flat is its enormous private garden. The flat itself is compact but well equipped. It's in a quiet residential area by the canal, only a few minutes walk from Cannaregio main street where you will find a supermarket, cafes and whatever you need. One quibble, you need to like very hard beds. In fact, one of us slept on the double sofa bed in preference to the beds. And one suggestion, with all that garden, an herb garden would have been really great.

A beautiful apartment in a lovely location. Don’t underestimate the delight of having a garden in Venice...It was lovely to be able to sit outside in the evening, especially since we alternated between eating in and eating out. The apartment is lovely and in a perfect location, convenient to public transport, restaurants, sights, etc., while still being in a quiet neighbourhood. We travelled in July with 2 adults and our 16 year old son. Weather was hot so air conditioning was a must. The mezzanine bedroom had no air conditioning and was too hot for our son. He ended up sleeping downstairs which was fine. The apartment was very well equipped; we wanted for nothing. I have no hesitation in recommending Dolfin as a place to stay, but max for 4 people during the summer months provided 2 are happy to sleep in very comfortable pull out sofa in living room.

A hidden-away apartment in Venice with its own water gate and ex. Apartment constructed in high-ceilinged back extension of a large house on one of fodaminterras (canal sides) of Cannaregio, a residential district North of central Venice but within easy walking distance of vaporetto stops, the market at the Rialto et al. Easy to get to vaporetto stops on the Grand Canal and on the lagoon-side We chose it because it's on the ground floor and had a garden: this was the best feature of the apartment and a great pleasure to sit out in on warm, early summer evenings. Several local restaurants further along the fondaminterra: all very close by and okay though not distinguished - and then we went to a great local restaurant serving more authentically Venetian cuisine, about five minutes walk away: Vino da Gigio (details in the booklet provided for guests). One good sized bedroom and another up some stairs from the main room (which could get rather hot in high summer though there's air conditioning below)In the main room there's a large sofa bed. Good for two couples but the upstairs bedroom isn't really separate from the downstairs room with the sofa bed and bathroom off it; would be okay for children but not for a third couple. Even though we arrived at 10 p.m., we were met where the airport boat docks and oriented to the apartment by Daniella who's in charge of Truly Venice and speaks fluent English. She showed us how to work the tricky lock on the big, antique front door. Door and the hall are shared by other tenants in the building (quiet and discreet; we rarely saw them). Apartment's comfortable and well appointed though kitchen is small and best suited to light meals or serving up food from the nearby supermarket (which has a good range) rather than serious cooking. Everything of importance worked, including the WiFi but not CD player. Shutters were a little tricky. One of the best-equipped and maintained places I've stayed in.

Home from home. The apartment was fantastic and the garden was lovely for the children to wander around. The apartment is practically detached as it seems to be a converted boat house which extends out the back of the main building just on the ground floor with a mezzanine into the roof. As a result it was very quiet. We had aqua alta when we visited (1.4m) and the water came up to the top of the water gate at the end of the garden only. We liked having coffee round the little table in the kitchen which was very cozy. We felt like real Venetians. The owner is an architect and so the interior was very well thought out.
