St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge can be reached in only 5 minutes walk: the location is absolutely central. This is one of our favorite areas of Venice historical center, close to the main tourist attractions but still very quiet and well serviced by local shops and restaurants as well as supermarkets. Some of the main landmarks found in the surroundings are the Church of San Giovanni e Paolo, Palazzo Grimani and Querini Stampalia, the Rialto Market and the Bridge of sights, besides the renowned treasures of St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace.
The lay-out of the Marco Polo apartment is well designed, with a generous entrance, a spacious living room facing south full of natural light, one double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a twin/double bedroom, a single bedroom with trundle bed and a second bathroom with bathtub. The apartment has very specific features inherited by the original structure such as antique parquet flooring, wooden beamed ceilings, tall antique doors and windows, stone balconies facing the canal. During the recent restoration the landlord tastefully blended these historical elements with designer furniture and high-tech appliances, in order to maximize comfort, while preserving the Venetian ambience with Murano Glass Chandeliers, traditional fabrics, soft colour and plenty of elegant interior details.
The equipment of the Marco Polo include air conditioning, Wi-Fi internet connection, 4K Smart TV with international channels, DVD player, washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, kettle, 4 burners induction stoves, large fridge and freezer, etc.
Notwithstanding the already listed many reasons why you should choose this apartment, with no doubt the most interesting feature is the truly authentic and romantic canal view enjoyable from the living room. The balcony has been equipped with a small table and 2 foldable chairs for an aperitive at sunset or a morning coffee. We suggest to get a private water taxi that will take you very close to the entrance door of the apartment.

This apartment is perfect . I read reviews from here and decided we would try it — it was a great decision. It is in a wonderful position being at the meeting of three canals so viewing gondolas is a full time task ! The apartment itself is very spacious . Four of us shared it so we had a bathroom each couple . Lots of kitchen equipment but we eat out each of the four nights. Advised by a Truly Venice we booked a water taxi from the airport it was €120 but when we added up vaporetta then bus/train to the airport it was about €10 each extra and instead of dragging cases and ourselves from one to the other, the taxi arrives about a three minute walk away and you are at the airport in 20 minutes. Expensive if just two but well worth it for four so much so we booked it back. If you are thinking of going to Venice for four days as we did seriously think of here you have much more room somewhere to sit and wonderful views. Would definitely returnOctober 2018, Andrea (UK)
We stayed at Marco Polo for a week in August. We were traveling with 3 college age kids which can overwhelm a home but the apartment was the perfect size with plenty of light. It was quite hot in Venice (it was August) and the two air conditioning units kept the apartment cool. We just made sure to close the shutters as soon as we left every morning and keep the doors to the bedrooms open. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and plenty of towels were provided for our stay. Having balconies that looked onto the canals was amazing. We would sit in the evening with a glass of wine and watch the procession of gondolas. In the mornings before our excursions we would watch the work boats coming into the city for the day. The neighborhood is great, you are near two lovely Campos and convenient to public transport stops. You can walk anywhere fairly quickly, yet you are not surrounded by crowds when you return. Supermarket was very close which was helpful. The staff at Truly Venice were amazing! We always have a lot of questions before we leave and our numerous emails were answered promptly and we never felt we were asking too many questions. They arranged taxis both to and from the airport which was an immense help traveling with 5 people. Victoria who met us at the taxi stand could not have been nicer. We had one or two questions about the apartment during the trip and someone always answered the phone and was knowledgeable about our issues which were very minor. We would highly recommend Truly Venice to book your stay in Venice.August 2018, Michael (USA)
The district of Castello, where the apartment is located, is a quiet haven close to the busy attractions of beautiful Venice. Within only a few minutes walk we were in Piazza San Marco, or at the Rialto Bridge. But, to really be a part of Venice life, Castello provided us with the small things we appreciated: a small pasta shop featuring fresh, hand-made pasta, a wine shop where you could buy "bulk" wine along with a great selection of Veneto wines, and a prosciutto/cheese shop providing mouthwatering Italian specialties. Campo Santa Maria Formosa was never crowded, even with the occasional tour group walking through as they admired the several historic buildings around the campo. The canal view from the apartment was far more than I expected. Having visited Venice many times before, at the Marco Polo apartment, sitting on the balcony overlooking the canals and cavalcade of gondolas was truly the high point and never tiring. The apartment is smaller than what appears in the photos, but is still very comfortable in all respects. We ate in the apartment most evenings, visiting the Rialto fish market regularly, only spurging on our morning cappucinos and croissants in nearby Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo (at Rosa Salva's outdoor tables). Beds are quite comfortable. Although the website notes English television, be prepared for only news stations. Also, the bedroom double doors to the master wouldn't close all the way, and "bumped" together with the nighttime breezes -- nothing we couldn't live with. Hannah, the Truly Venice representative was absolutely great. She met us at the water taxi stop, and was a great help throughout our stay of three weeks whenever we had questions about the apartment. I would definitely book this apartment again.April 2018, Victoria (United States)
Just wanted to say thank you for an amazing stay at your Marco Polo apartment. It was perfect and we had an amazing stay in beautiful Venice. We were so impressed with the service from Truly Venice from start to finish and your representative who's name I unfortunately didn't catch was very polite and helpful. We would certainly highly recommend you to anyone planning to visit you wonderful city. Thanks again !July 2017, Deborah (US)
The Marco Polo apartment was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and everything in it was a pleasure to use. The location was brilliant- close enough to walk to all the sights easily and yet just far enough away from the Grand Canal to be peaceful. The balcony overlooking one of the canals was a delight, especially when a singing gondolier went past! We had a brilliant holiday here and would love to come again.August 2014, Rachael (United Kingdom)
My wife and I stayed with another couple at the Marco Polo apartment. This was a perfect alternative to the high price hotels in Venice. We were even able to hire a chef to do a cooking lesson in the apartment to take full advantage of the kitchen. Making our own tiramisu while gondolas floated by out our windows with their songs filling our apartment with music was a purely venetian experience I will never forget. This apartment was in a perfect location off of one of the larger squares in Venice. Only a 5 min walk to the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square. Daniela arranged our water taxis to and from the apartment which was a big help. You don't want to have to drag your bags up and down the many bridges over the canals. One of the highlights of the apartment, for me, was the two balconies overlooking two intersecting canals. With all the walking you'll be doing around Venice it's nice to have a place to come back to relax with friends and have a meal, something a hotel room can't offer. I would highly recommend this apartment to any group of 3 to 5 people looking to stay in Venice 3 nights or more.April 2014, (United States)
WOW. A wonderful apartment in a very central but not so crowded area. Very clean, equipped with everything you need for a stay. The apartment is quiet and bright and very suitable for a family. The welcome was very friendly and the employee from the agency gave us very good recommendations for restaurants and cafés.June 2016, Mail (Germany)
Molto efficiente l'assistenza all'arrivo. In 5 siamo stati comodissimi.January 2017, Carla (Italy)
What a fabulous location and apartment from the moment we inquired until we arrived everything went smoothly. We were advised to take a water taxi to the apartment and we were met by Thomas who took us to the apartment and explained everything to us including places to eat, things to do and advice on medical in case it was needed, he even told us to ring him if we did need medical assistance and he would contact the hospital for us. We went to the places he recommended and they were great.. It was wonderful to see and hear all the gondolas going past the apartment. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen and bathrooms accommodated our all our needs.Loved our time in Venice and would definitely recommend this apartment!July 2016, Bruce (Australia)
I chose this apartment after extensive research because of the combination of location, interior and canal views. We weren't disappointed with any aspect. Sitting in the apartment watching the gondolas pass by was just lovely. The apartment itself is very comfortable. There was plenty of room for the five of us and the beds were very comfortable. Really loved the building and decor, especially the limed beams and chandeliers in the living area. Enrico and Daniela were both very helpful and made the whole experience very smooth. The Wi-Fi was great and Sky TV which allowed many children shows in English as well as movies was also a bonus, when everyone was tired from walking. I would definitely recommend staying in a Truly Venice apartment when in Venice as it felt more personal and of course is very convenient. And Marco Polo would be the perfect apartment to choose.October 2014, Dawn (China)
The apartment was just as shown on the pictures and very well located. It has everything one needs and is well preserved and maintained. It was a perfect base for us to explore Venice and we could experience how locals live in this magic city. The third room is a bit small but for us it was no problem as our 9-year-old got the room. The restaurant recommendations left by the representative are very good. We tried a few out and were enchanted by each one.January 2015, Michaela (United States)
Located totally in the very centre of the historical district of Venice. Carrying the very special and romantic spirit of Venice. Spacious, well furnished, beautiful, in a real old Venetian house. Balcony is looking over water. The representative is very helpful and attentive, everything was as promised and agreed.August 2015, Marta (Estonia)
The apartment was very convenient for exploring Venice while being in a quiet corner of the city. Drinking a coffee and eating breakfast overlooking the canal was just wonderful, especially when a singing gondolier passed by! A memory I will always treasure. The friendly and helpful administration made booking, arrival and departure very straightforward.March 2016, Hilary (United Kingdom)
The apartment was everything you promised and more. The location was perfect. We had wonderful restaurants and places to buy food to cook within 10 minute walks. Even the supermarket was great. And musical events were available every evening in our neighborhood or fairly nearby. The apartment was very spacious, perfectly laid out and would have accommodated 2 or 3 more people. The decor was lovely and everything was pristinely clean. There was absolutely no trace of mold smell in the apartment or hall or baloney. Serenades from people in Gondolas coming from the two canals below were very entertaining and never bothered us while we slept as closing the windows kept sound out. Thank you for your careful attention to my need to avoid chemicals in cleaning supplies. I would stay in the Marco Polo again and have told all my friends about it. I can't imagine why anyone would prefer a hotel. Thanks again,October 2011, Tamsin (United Kingdom)
Beautiful and well situated. New and well-appointed and quiet apartment, with really nice view, you can see and hear the "gondoliers”. 5 minutes to San Marco and Rialto, with all the facilities near the rental: supermarket, bread, fruits. The best way to visit Venezia.November 2011, Duarte (France)
Perfect! Very good service. Apartment in excellent location, easy walking distance to all major sights. Tastefully decorated and furnished. Full of sunlight during the day, romantic view on the canal. We had a pleasant family stay, one small complaint, we got only one key, being 5 a second one would have been welcome.December 2011, Bealeo (Germany)
Lovely apartment, great location! Truly Venice were delightful to work with in booking our 4 night stay in Venice. We were hoping for a well located canal view apartment and the Marco Polo was exactly this. The apartment was lovely inside, air conditioned and spacious. It overlooked a small canal which was frequented by gondolas. Somewhat noisy but fortunately these stopped once it got dark. The location is great, just down a small lane from Campo Santa Maria Formosa which is only 5 mins walk to St Marks. Highly recommended for groups of 4-6.July 2013, Greg (Australia)
