The area is adored by Venetians for its strategic position and quietness: in fact it takes only 5 minutes' walk to reach the car park and the train station northbound, less than 10 minutes' walk to reach the Rialto or the Accademia Bridges, or 2 minutes by Traghetto (a Gondola used to cross the Grand Canal for only € 2 per person) to reach the San Marco District southbound. In the surroundings there are plenty of specialty shops and supermarkets, beside excellent restaurants and bars, while the area is not too crowded but is very active both culturally and socially.
You can access the house from a nice little square: at the ground floor there is a large and typically Venetian entrance hall and a laundry room, while at the first floor the apartment is composed of living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms, in total about 120 square meters . An easy to climb flight of stairs of about 20 steps connects the two levels.
The most relevant feature of the Grimani, beside the remarkable traditional architecture, is by far the sequence of tall arched windows looking-out on picturesque Canals and historical Palazzi. Just to give you an idea of the neighborhood's reputation, literally next-door is found the House of Carlo Goldoni, that now is an interesting museum open to the general public. The pleasant view is enjoyable from every room, there is therefore abundance of natural light.
Another strength of the Grimani is definitively the spacious and highly technological kitchen communicating with the dining room. It has been equipped with every sort of appliance and tool for a chef proof dinner: we highly suggest to go shopping at the Rialto Market (in about 10 minutes' walk) and experience the delightful local Venetian cuisine at its best!
The bright and spacious living room offers plenty of sitting space for the entire family and a double pull-out bed. The cozy environment is enriched by original wooden beamed ceilings, authentic Venetian Terrazzo flooring and stone arches. In the larger bedroom there is a king size bed, a large wardrobe and a library, while the smaller bedroom can be arranged as twin or double, on request, as you can see in the image gallery. The red mosaic tiled bathroom has a bathtub, while the smaller bathroom a shower cabin.
The Grimani apartment is equipped with air conditioning and autonomous heating in every room, Wi-Fi internet connection, flat screen TV, DVD player, dishwasher, washing machine, four burners gas stove, oven, microwave, large fridge and freezer, kettle and much more. This apartment suits everyone for up to 6 people and it is a perfect apartment also for longer stays, we are confident that you will feel truly at home!

The Grimani apartment is located in the San Tomà quarter or ‘sestiero’. The area is lovely with gorgeous little squares, cafés and restaurants, a famous stunning church referred to by the locals as ‘I Frari’, more churches and museums, all within the shortest walking distance from the apartment. We had a fantastic time walking around and soaking in the beautiful and genuine Venetian atmosphere. There were always tourists exploring the area but we never experienced the oppressive crowds that fill San Marco Square and the surrounding areas. At the same time, San Tomà is in a perfect central position to visit the rest of Venice, including the islands. It is also extremely well connected and is served by two water bus lines which meant we never had to wait for more than a minute. There is also an even quicker service - the Gondolino - which simply crosses the Grand Canal and takes you to the opposite bank from where it is possible to walk to San Marco and other areas. The Gondolino stop is only a few steps away (literally) from the apartment and the San Tomà bus stop a 2 minute walk. We visited Venice with relatively elderly relatives who experience some difficulty when walking for long distances and even they found the distance from and to the water bus stops completely manageable. The apartment is great, well appointed and perfect for five people (the number in our group). It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one ensuite with a bath and a bidet and one with a small shower. The ensuite bathroom is in what one would define as the second bedroom. The smaller shower room is on a small landing. There is a large and bright sitting room with two sofas, one of which is a very comfortable sofa bed. The added benefit is a large, bright and extremely well appointed kitchen (including a Nespresso machine with capsules and a mixer) a round table and a sofa, which meant we had a place to gather, chat, and enjoy a meal or a coffee even though the sofa bed remained open in the sitting room. The bed sheets had a satiny and soft quality and the towels were new and equally soft. All mattresses had mattresses covers beneath the sheets except the sofa bed which contrary to what the local agent told us had not been prepared. The pillows were also very good, medium soft, but they did not have pillow protective covers under the pillow cases which, again, left me a little perplexed (however, I recognise that most people would not notice this!) Apart from this, all beds were new and very comfortable. The smaller bathroom is very well designed and surprisingly well equipped with hooks and shelves. However, any person above a normal size might find it difficult to negotiate the space. The apartment overlooks one of the smaller canals and from around 10am is flooded in sunlight (we were there at the end of September and had beautiful sun and clear blue sky for the entire stay). The apartment is located in an old stone building in a tiny square, it has an independent entrance at street level, and is located on the first floor. The steps however are by no means steep and, again, perfectly manageable by less mobile people. There is a small utility room off the lobby with washing machine and dryer (I think) and a place to leave luggage on the day of departure if one wishes to carry on exploring the city after check out time. The local agent was very welcoming and spent some time with us showing us the apartment and suggesting restaurants and shops in the area. A rare occurrence in Venice, there is a small but well stocked supermarket as well as a bakery just round the corner from the Grimani apartment. I was very grateful to Daniela of Truly Venice for suggesting the Grimani apartment and the San Tomà area to us, steering us away from trying to rent an apartment near San Marco Square. We were able to enjoy an authentic Venetian experience for the few days we were in Venice and at the same time had a fantastic base from which to explore the rest of the city. Through Truly Venice we also hired a taxi from the airport and a porter for when we arrived at the stop near the apartment, which made our arrival in Venice effortless. We were able to stand through the open roof of the beautiful oldfashioned water taxi and take in the stunning view of the city as we drove along the Grand Canal in the sunset.October 2018, Gabriella (United Kingdom)
Dear Daniela , Just a quick feedback on the Grimani apartment in Venise. We were delighted with our stay. Top Apartment, Top welcome, Top service, Top location! Hannah is particularly professional, welcoming and helpful. The Apartment met all our expectations and beyond and we were overall very satisfied. We will recommend your services very highly. Thank you again for the Top service and attention received. Warm regardsJune 2018, Sophie (Australia)
We stayed here for 5 days with our two childern aged 10 and 12. It was perfect for us. Location is great, as the vaporetto stop, grocery store, bakery, and a very nice cafe are all at 2 minutes walk. We loved the decoration of the flat, and the kitchen was very well equipped. It was very cold outside in December but this place is very well insulated, and was very nice and warm. I can imagine that it must be nice and cool in the summer. It was quiet, clean and very comfortable. Seeing the canal out the window is great... if you walk north, lots of nice and much quieter restaurants... and I really miss having that incredible bakery (Pavan Marina?) so close. I would definitely book this again and would recommend it whole heartedly.December 2017, Ayse (UK)
The Grimani apartment is an awesome apartment for a family! We spent three nights here in August and loved it. The apartment is very spacious and well equipped. Two bathrooms! Full kitchen. Large bedrooms with separate beds for kids. Really nice living room. Centrally located but in a nice quiet corner with canal views - open those windows in the morning and sip your coffee! It was a perfect place to start a vacation after a very long flight with tired young teens (14 and 12). It was also great to come back to everyday after lots of walking. Great places to eat nearby - a cafe/bar two minutes away and very close to gondola service where you can cross Grand Canal for 2 euros as well as vaporetto (water bus) stop. Shops to grab a few groceries nearby too. We appreciated Truly Venice arranging water taxi for our arrival and being met by someone to take us to apartment and give us some key tips on some places to eat etc. They were accommodating with early check in - which we really appreciated after flying all night. Excellent!August 2017, Stephen (Canada)
We loved coming back to this apartment after walking through Venice all day. Extremely well located, within easy walking distance to a Vaporetto stop, a great grocery, and numerous cafes and restaurants. The large apartment is perfect for two couples - nice kitchen, great views, good proportions and well-furnished. The small square in front of the building next to the canal was perfect, as was the private entryway.June 2018, Julia (United States)
This apartment could not be better for comfort, style, cleanliness, and location! We wanted, and got, an apartment that was central, easy to walk to and from (we're older), and close to a vaporetto (San Toma is on both the 1 and 2 lines, making it especially convenient). We wanted, and got, a place that was large enough for family to visit. We were even more delighted when the apartment turned out to be bright, cheerful, very well furnished, and stylish. Hannah and her staff were wonderful, especially when one of us lost a suitcase. We have no complaints at all, but if you have trouble with stairs--which we managed--ask Hannah about ground-floor apartments.April 2017, Arlen (USA, NY)
With its own private entrance, steps up to a lovely first floor apartment. Excellent, well equipped kitchen. Modern bathroom and shower room. Good size bedrooms with plenty of storage. Nice touch of Venice artwork throughout the apartment and a library of art and History books to browse over. Views over a canal and bridge. Check-in was helpful, with lots of tips and recommendations for our first stay in Venice. Good location, away from the crowds but within walking distance to the sights.April 2014, Emily (UK)
The Grimani is in a great location just off the Grand Canal in a quiet area of Venice near the San Toma Vaporetto stop. From the Piazzale Roma it is an easy 10-15 minute walk. If you're not bogged down with too many bags then walking is fine. For a great first view of Venice I recommend taking the water taxi. You can arrange that with Truly-Venice.com. Grab a beer at the kiosk near the pick-up point and enjoy the ride to the Grimani! The apartment itself is very comfortable and spacious. There is a very large master bedroom with a king size bed (or very large queen) along with a bedroom with 2 double beds and a half bath. There is one small bathroom with a large shower as well. The living room has a pull out sofa bed that is very comfortable along with a second couch. Easily sleeps 5-6 people comfortably. The kitchen was beautiful as well with large windows you can open for a canal view. Kitchen has a love seat in it too so a very comfortable place to hang out while having your morning coffee. Short walk to everything or you can grab the vaporetto close by. I recommend renting the Grimani for 5-6 people and TrulyVenice was an excellent agent to rent from!October 2015, James (USA)
