Brunelleschi is the quintessential Venetian residence encompassing the entire Piano Nobile of a 16th century palazzo designed by the renowned Jacopo Sansovino
Only a few minutes from Piazza San Marco, you will be able to escape to this historic haven in the oldest sestiere (district) of Venice, relax in the large private walled garden under the shade of a fragrant magnolia tree and let the rest of the city slip into the background.
What better way to arrive in Venice than along the Rio della Pietà to the private water entrance of the palazzo! From there, ascend a grand stone staircase to the first floor (35 steps up) into the impressive high-ceilinged salon adorned with exquisite frescos by Paolo Pagani, 18th century oil paintings, magnificent antique Murano Rezzonico chandeliers and original terrazzo floors. The spacious salon has both a formal dining area at one end and an elegant, classic sitting area at the other. Both benefit from the abundance of light streaming through the vast Gothic windows, which at one end open onto a stone balcony with views of the canal. Views from the dining area are into the divine private garden below.
Stuccoed portico doorways lead to several rooms: one into the traditional and well equipped kitchen with many fantastic cookbooks; another into the library with shelves of antique books in a multitude of languages. This tranquil room boasts the most spectacular views of San Giorgio Maggiore through the French doors. A small balcony there is perfect spot for enjoying the perfect view.
The apartment has three good-sized double bedrooms each with elegant bathrooms. Two bedrooms are on the first floor with high ceilings and the third is on the second floor with exposed beams, parquet floors, a small dressing room and nearby bathroom. A fourth single bedroom is available on request. All bedrooms have air-conditioning, luxury bed and bath linens and terry cloth dressing gowns. The entire apartment occupies 350 square meters.
The Brunelleschi is strictly nonsmoking. The price includes two hours of maid service six days a week, bath linen changed daily and bed linen changed every other day.
We recommend this incredible home to very discerning travelers or families with well-behaved children, considering the fragility, antiquity and value of paintings, textiles and furnishings.
