Osteria alla Vedova €€
Large choice of cicchetti to eat while standing up and drinking an ombra (small glass of house wine) but it is also a great restaurant. One of our favourite places for an authentic Venetian dinner. Surely the most traditional Osteria in Venice. much loved by locals.

Typical Venetian fine restaurants also suitable for special occasions. You would only find it if you know it exists, it is located on the hidden but beautiful campiello Widman (there's a lovely outside seating space summer!). The wine card has some good wines to offer.

Osteria alla Zucca €€€
Fantastic dishes for veggie lovers that are fond of ordering many various little plates to share. My favourite dish is definitely the zucca (pumkin) flan prepared with ricotta. Lovely soups of the day, curry rice or radicchio and mushroom lasagne? A quiet and small restaurant with warm and welcoming atmosphere. They are much loved and thus often booked out. Be quick to reserve your table!

Trattoria alla Madonna €€€
Simple but excellent food in a spacious eatery style restaurant with eye for details (white table cloths ecc). It can be a bit hectic but the good standard/efficient service, the long menu with wide choice of meals more than offsets this. Good quality dishes, rest assured that the fish and meat is always fresh due to the high turnover of guests. There's fish risotto, grilled squid, fried calamari, lobster, Venetian style liver with onions, lasagne and plenty of grilled seasonal vegetables.

It is worth going not only for the food but for the wonderful view on the Canal Grande from the generous open-air seating space.
